Threats and Challenges

The cooperative faces the following challenges:

Fall in the price and consumer demand especially for coffee

Many export tax barriers

Bad roads especially in the rainy season

Limited quantity on the Fairtrade market

Other buyers especially Local Buying Agents (LBAs)

Lack of materials and equipment

Ageing farms

Access both to Mamfé and the sections can be can be difficult during the rainy season because of inadequate and poorly maintained roads.

Despite any difficulties, MACEFCOOP's resolve and energy remains high, knowing that it can build on the significant progress already achieved. But its people would be helped significantly by any inroad into those difficulties (such as the condition of roads) that are largely outside of its own control.
